What this range covers

A blind deboss presses the logo into a PU or leather cover with no ink at all. It is the option most government and protocol gifting prefers, because it reads as considered rather than promotional, and it is the only one that still looks right when the cover is dark.

Foil stamping is the opposite instinct — gold, silver or rose, with a directional sheen that moves as the book is handled. It carries a one-off die charge, credited back above 500 units, so it costs more on a run of 50 and costs nothing extra on a run of 600.

Pens are a different substrate again. A metal barrel takes a laser engraving cleanly at small sizes, which matters because a pen gives you perhaps 40mm of usable width and a logo with fine detail will fill in. Send the vector and we will tell you before the run, not after.

Screen print
One to four spot colours, included in the base price on most stock items. The cost-efficient route above 250 pieces.
UV print
Full colour and photographic, with a faint raised edge where the ink cures. Works on metal, plastic, wood and coated ceramic.
Laser engraving
Permanent and ink-free. Marks bamboo, cork, metal, leather and acrylic, and keeps an eco specification intact.
Blind deboss
Pressed into leather or PU with no ink at all. The quiet option most government and protocol gifting prefers.
Foil stamping
Gold, silver or rose metallic transfer with a directional sheen. One-off die charge, credited back above 500 units.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better on a notebook, deboss or foil?

Neither is better; they say different things. A deboss is quiet and reads as restraint, which suits protocol and government gifting. Foil is visible across a room and suits an event or a launch. On a dark cover a deboss is often the only one that reads at all.

Is there a set-up charge?

Foil stamping carries a one-off die charge, credited back above 500 units. Blind deboss and laser engraving have no die charge.

Can you print on the pages as well as the cover?

Printed inner pages and a dated planner block are possible but they are a print job rather than a branding one, with their own lead time. Ask in the enquiry and it will be quoted separately rather than folded into the cover price.
